Last three days we camped on the North Shore. The waves were supposedly the largest to hit the island in 20 years and people from all over came up to surf or just check it out. We hung out on the top of a cliff and watched while people surfed 30-40ft waves. You really couldn’t tell they were that big until you saw an ant sized surfer drop in and either make it or get crushed. It was impossible to take a picture and actually capture how big they were unless you had a crazy telephoto lens, as hundreds of people lined along the shore did. Two of the nights we slept on the beach where the waves crashed on rocks and the spray shot up like a giant log flume ride.
